A word From the couple...
Thanks for visiting our honeypot webpage, below is the itinery for our honeymoon that you may notice isnt a lovely romantic trip to a Caribbean island but is instead a cold, dark cruise around the Norwegian coast, luckily we both really like snow and the cold and the dark and we are really looking forward to seeing the fjords, the northern lights and especially ushering in the new year as husband and wife in magical surroundings (not that Newbury on New Years Eve isnt!).
Our Itinerary...
Day 1 - Flights
Fly from Gatwick to Bergen
One Night Stay at Scandic Bergen Airport
Day 2 - Depart Bergen
Depart from Bergen, the cultural gateway to the fjords, enjoy the relaxed ambience of life on board and an opportunity to meet fellow passengers as you take in the spectacular landscapes.
Day 3 - Ålesund
An early arrival at the Art Nouveau town of Ålesund provides an opportunity to go ashore and explore this pretty town.
Day 4 - Trondheim
Continuing north you head for the medieval city of Trondheim, whose colourful history is reflected in its handsome civic architecture. Excursions include the medieval Nidaros Cathedral or the enthralling Ringve Music Museum. Evening departure towards the land of the Midnight Sun.
Day 5 - Bodø
Crossing the Arctic Circle you continue to the modern town of Bodø, from where you can join our Saltstraumen Safari to visit the river with the worlds strongest maelstrom. Days end sees you amidst the glorious Lofoten Islands and their capital, Svolvær.
Day 6 - Tromsø
A relaxing morning at sea precedes your arrival in Tromsø, the capital of the Arctic. Arrive Tromsø in the afternoon, optional excursions including dog sledging
are available during your stay.
In the evening a special New Years dinner will be served followed by celebrations & dancing. Modern shops and cafés provide a vibrant contrast to the stunning stained glass of the Arctic Cathedral, whilst the Polar Museum and Polaria centre explore Arctic life over the centuries. The ship leaves Tromsø at night.
Day 7 - Honningsvåg
Stop at Honningsvåg early afternoon, optional North Cape excursion.
Day 8 - Alta
Arrive at Alta, optional excursions including snow mobiling are available.
Day 9 - Hammerfest
Depart Alta and sail to Hammerfest.
Day 10 - Lofoten Islands
Passing through the legendary Lofoten Islands the ship negotiates an intricate network of inlets and isles. This is one of the most beautiful stretches of the Norwegian coast and for many it is the most stunning part of your journey south. You can opt for an overland excursion from Harstad, rejoining the ship in Sortland, before moving on to what is the highlight of the voyage for many, a possible detour into the spectacular and dramatic Trollfjord. This remarkable day is completed with an evening return to Svolvær and a farewell to the islands at Stamsund.
Day 11 - Cross the Arctic Circle
Crossing the Arctic Circle and sailing past the famed peaks of the Seven Sisters you enter a world of legends and folklore, before a chance to enjoy the award-winning maritime museum at Rørvik.
Day 12 - Trondheim
An early arrival in the medieval city of Trondheim gives you an opportunity to explore and maybe visit the Nidaros Cathedral.
The voyage then continues out of the Trondheimsfjord and past Hitra Island, making brief calls at Kristiansund and Molde before a midnight call at Ålesund.
Day 13 - Bergen
Your arrival in Bergen sees the end of this magnificent journey and it is time to say good-bye to the ship and på gjensyn (until we meet again) to friends, fellow passengers and your crew.
Day 14 - Return Flights
Fly from Bergen to Gatwick
